White & Case has hired finance partner Monica Barton from Winston & Strawn in London.
Barton had been a partner at Winston & Strawn since 2020,and was previously a partner at Reed Smith. She has a particular focus on acquisition and leveraged finance, a White & Case statement said on Tuesday.
White & Case partner Colin Harley added: ““Monica is one of the few finance lawyers in the London market to have worked almost exclusively with leveraged and distressed debt funds for much of the past decade.”
Alongside Kirkland & Ellis, White & Case was one of two law firms to both gain and lose the most London partners in 2021, according to rankings produced earlier this year demonstrating the high churn rate of certain firms.
White & Case has made several additions to its ranks in recent months, including two partners from King & Spalding.
Other recent lateral moves between in the London legal market this month have included two departures from PWC Legal, to CMS and Katten Muchin Rosenman, just this week.
