International law firm CMS has hired three partners in its U.K. offices, including a partner from DLA Piper.
John Cloke joins the firm’s TMT practice in London, and leaves DLA Piper after 17 years at the firm, including six as a partner.
Cloke has significant experience in advising media clients on the sale and acquisition of sports rights, including on some of the largest rights deals in world sport.
In 2018, he was the lead partner on the DLA Piper team advising the Premier League on the £4.4bn sale of live TV broadcasting rights to BT and Sky.
Meanwhile, James Geer has joined CMS as a partner from the law firm Sackers. Geer previously spent 11 years at Clifford Chance between 2010 and 2021, and has a broad range of experience advising on derivatives and financial regulation. Geer joins CMS’ financial services transactions team in London.
Finally, David Hardy joins the firm as a partner in its Sheffield office from Squire Patton Boggs. He has been a partner at Squire since 2015, and previously spent just under four years as a partner at Eversheds Sutherland, according to his LinkedIn profile.
